What I needed today, even though I actually accomplished a few tasks. Felt really good to just slow it down and allow partially finished be "good enough". Shabbat Shalom.

Great gazette feature! And yes, Jena, it's also called "dolce far niente" and I claim it is critical to our well being to incoprporate this, unapologetically, into our weekly rhythms. Did you see my recent post about just this? https://ninablichtenstein.substack.com/p/dolce-far-niente-in-aruba-or-anywhere

I love that you are a cover woman!!!! Congrats!!! And thanks for the permission to slack! I am still in bed with a terrible cold and was feeling guilty for being so “lazy” (ridiculous!) and now I’m going to lose any thought of getting up any time soon amd enjoyed the rest!

I love the reminder that not writing is part of the creative process. Three years ago I was just back from a mini self-led writing retreat with a friend and wrote this: WRITE // Yes, you need butt in the chair, hands on the keyboard, words on the page time … but you also need to make space for the bigger picture of your story to stretch out. You also need time to rest and refill between the words on the page. It helps to walk in the gardens at the Mount on a rainy day and notice the shape of the bare trees and that the snowdrops are blooming just like at home, to stop by the gingerbread house and drive a mountain road, or half of one. It helps to eat all the cheese and swap stories with a friend that you haven’t told each other yet and talk through the things you are figuring out about your story. It helps to be creative in a way that works your brain in a different way. And it helps to sit in a hot tub and watch steam and snow swirl, to take a nap stretched out like a starfish in a bed by yourself.

I can and do find that down time in the every day, I could use bigger space like this again.
