For five or so years, this group fostered stories from dozens of writers, some of whom went on to publish their work in the form of personal essays and memoirs, others of whom didn’t hold publishing as a goal at all but rather wrote as a form of self-exploration.
Now, I’m bringing it back. Because telling our stories can be transformative on so many levels – personally and beyond. It’s one of the most ancient and powerful things we humans do, and in my opinion, one of the best.
In the face of so much grief and turmoil, how do we stay connected to the importance of where we’ve been, what we’ve seen and experienced, and the moments that stay with us most, from sorrow to sweetness?
By writing, sharing, connecting, and witnessing.
But sometimes it’s overwhelming. Where to start? How to keep momentum once you do? By joining a group like this!
If you find the thought of writing memoir enticing but perhaps intimidating, Mini Memoirs is a bite-size way into this genre. This group will give you a way to choose a moment that won't let you go and write about it, slowly and steadily, for just 10 minutes at a time.
Yes, that’s right. Ten minutes. You will be amazed.
Also, you don't need to know beforehand what you want to write about. Just come ready to meet the blank page or screen a few times a week, to share your words, and to support your fellow writing peeps. We will be focused entirely on process, not polishing.
THE PACE & THE VIBE
The pace of this group is gentle but steady, and you'll be invited to write in short bursts without editing or second-guessing the words as you go. Expect to be received with warmth, support, and encouragement in an amazing collection of individuals, with utterly unique voices and stories.
